REMEMBERING TODAY

First published in July 2022

I must remember today
before I forget it,
clear transparant sunshine,
a garden green upon green,
a sky luscious with blue.

I must treasure colour,
lock it safe and sound
ready to unwrap, gloat over
as blindness dulls my sight
and a curtain flutters

teasing, tantalising
the breathy threat
I'm reluctant to face
inevitable as it is,
while it lurks in a corner

so today is a day
I must not forget.
