Schools:
Workshop sessions: As an ex-primary teacher who is also a writer,
I am always pleased to visit schools and libraries to run art and
writing workshops with children. The twin disciplines of poetry
and art are two sides of the same coin, requiring artist and poet
to look imaginatively at the world in order to produce a creative
response. I encourage the children to present their written work
in a range of exciting ways - in opening flaps, frames, zigzag books
and so on - so that it becomes more than simply words on a page.
INSET sessions: I am experienced in organising workshops for teachers
in primary schools (KS1 & KS2) and for those still in training.
I offer a range of practical ways-in to writing and bring examples
of children's work as a basis for discussion. I like to concentrate
on poetry and display, story-writing and other aspects of language
education in the primary classroom.
